What is Baby Signing?

This is when you give the tools and ability for your baby to communicate to you when verbal communication has not fully developed. Baby sign language is not complex and uses simple signs for you and your baby to learn alongside speaking. Baby signing helps to advance verbal communication as it bridges the link between what the item/feeling/person is and its word. Baby signing has been proven to help reduce stress and frustration in babies when communicating, which in turn results in less tantrums and a more positive experience when communicating.

History of Baby Signing

Baby singing has becoming increasingly popular over the last decade but baby signing dates as a far back as to the 1970s. Researchers realised that children with deaf parents were communicating a lot earlier compared to other children their own age with non-deaf parents. Researchers realised by introducing sign language they could communicate across to parents their needs from as young as 6 months old, with many babies able to sign a wide variety of words by 9 months old. Researchers then decided to introduce a simplified version of sign language to babies with non-deaf parents along with teaching them the verbal words, giving babies the ability to communicate to loved ones at a younger age.

Wonder Bubble Babes & Wonder Bubbles Tots

Wonder Bubbles is a class that incorporates baby signing, sensory activities, music and play to create a fun and engaging group. Classes are informal, relaxed and baby-led, helping to create a welcoming and stress-free environment.

Classes are for babies 12 weeks to crawling and each week we focus on a topic of baby signs to learn, we explore songs with musical instruments and we enjoy new sensory experiences with the aid of bubbles, lights and different sounds and materials.

Variety of signs that we have learnt

Classes are 45 minutes long and include baby signing, songs whilst exploring musical instruments, sensory activities and the chance to socialise and play alongside other babies.
